PALO SANTO
PALO SANTO - (Bursera graveolens) The ritualistic burning of palo santo which translates to "sacred" or "holy" wood, can be traced back to the Incan Empire, where it was used in spiritual ceremonies.
Palo santo is a tree that's native to Peru, Ecuador, and other South American countries. It is a sacred tree traditionally used by indigenous communities as a sacred practice. Shamans burn palo santo sticks in bundles to cleanse their space and ward off spirits.
Similar to Sage and Cedar, Today Palo Santo is most widely used for spirtual purification and energy house cleansings. Once the wood sticks are burned, the smoke is believed to clear negative energy and restore tranquility and calming emotions.
